IRDC 2019: Audiovisual Design and the Future of Retail

Presented annually by VMSD, the International Retail Design Conference is a one-of-a-kind event, with three days of design dialogue centered on best practices, evolving trends and fresh strategies for engaging shoppers. IRDC is recognized as the premier educational and networking event for the store design and visual merchandising community.

As a part of the conference this year, ESI Design’s Andrew Lazarow, Designer & AV Technologist, will feature on a panel discussing on “Audiovisual Design and the Future of Retail.”

What to Expect: The Latest in Digital Retail Experiences

As an experience designer, Andrew will join retailers and architects in a high-level conversation exploring best practices in collaborative design when leveraging audiovisual technology for retail environments. Andrew will discuss opportunities for stakeholders to improve collaboration; best-in-class examples of audiovisual experiences in retail environments; and emerging technologies that are shaping the future of the industry.

The panel is hosted by Brad Grimes, Senior Director of Communications at AVIXA, with other speakers including Sharon Lessard, Senior Director of Global Store Design & Development at Under Armour, and Kathleen Jordan, Department Stores Leader at Gensler.

Meet the Speaker: Andrew Lazarow

Andrew Lazarow is an award-winning interactive designer. In his role as a Systems Designer at ESI, he develops the robust visual and audio systems that support the interactive experiences designed by the ESI team. Andrew has 11 years of interaction design experience, focusing on encouraging audiences to be more present and inspiring wonder. His areas of expertise include projection mapping, motion capture, video systems and interactive lighting control.

For the past five years, Andrew has been a Resident Researcher and Adjunct Professor at NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program. As a designer outside of ESI, he focuses on interactive video and projections designs for retail and public spaces as well as for theater, dance, and opera. Andrew graduated from Williams College with a B.A. in Performance Studies, going on to receive his Master’s in Interactive Telecommunications from NYU.
